1992 Nissan Sentra
A phone call about a 1992 Nissan Sentra came from an elderly lady wanting to sell her car. We were kind of hesitant about what we were hearing. She revealed that she was 90 years young and could not drive on the road anymore. She continued on that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and it had just over 116,000 miles. Impressive mileage for a car that was 25 years old (it was like driving 4500 miles a year or 375 miles a month). However, thoughts of the ‘used’ car salesman giving the classic pitch about selling a car from a little old lady who only drove it to church just once week popped up. Still, we had to find out.
We drove out to see her and sure enough, she was telling the truth. The vehicle title was in her name, the mileage was actually around 115,900 and it drove like a charm. We did not negotiate much as we wanted to give her full value. We took it back to the shop to do some research and find out a little bit more about the car we purchased for sale.
Best Features
Surprisingly, we discovered that the Nissan Sentra car we bought was rated as one of the best cars of 1992 by Car and Driver.
Besides standard features, this model came with a double overhead camshaft (DOHC) along with a sixteen-valve and all aluminum 2.0 liter engine. It cruised with 140 horsepower and 6400 rpm’s of torque. Car and Driver called the Nissan Sentra the ‘BMW 2002 of the Nineties’ for its smooth handling performance. It was great on gas averaging 30 miles per gallon in the city and 40 on highway. The Nissan Sentra was also equipped with anti-lock brakes. And in front impact testing it scored 4 out of 5 in driver and passenger injury.
The car continued to start and run solidly. Other than new tires, smog certification and getting a vehicle history report, we did not have to do anything else with the car.
Car Owner Testimonials
In looking at different owner reviews of this model on leading car websites, the testimonials were consistent.
A proud owner of the 1992 Nissan Sentra testified that his Sentra is fast enough to take on any challenges on the road. It even went a full blast of 0-60kph in just 7 seconds. WOW! That’s pretty amazing for a low-profile sedan. The delighted owner of the SE-R continued sharing… after getting a few accessory upgrades like the air intake and few chassis modifications, his car reached its maximum potential and did it for as little as $200.
Another owner who’s been fond of this car model since it got out of the market shared his opinion on this car and said that, this car may not be the most tremendous, not the fastest, and not the most prestigious car in the market but, what made the 1992 Nissan Sentra amazing is the dependability, reliability and a very decent quality car of its kind. His friend even offered to buy it for $8000 but, he immediately turned the offer down and did not regret his decision.
